Rathbone @ the London Youth INCLUSION Event 2017

On Wednesday 9th August 2017 the youth club took part in the London Youth’s inaugural Inclusion Festival at the Salmon Youth Centre. Not only were we invited to attend and for our inclusive youth group to participate in activities throughout the day but we are proud to say the 2 member of our youth management team supported by our service manager were invited to deliver sessions at the event!

They did a fantastic job of hosting the Youth Action session which encouraged young people to pitch for £50 towards an activity that would benefit their youth clubs. This was the first time our YMT members have hosted sessions with their peers and they did a brilliant job.

All of the youth groups came up with fantastic ideas ranging from fundraising events to sports sessions. The fantastic news is that all groups (including Rathbone!) were successful in securing the funding for their youth club ideas.

It was a fun packed day that enabled youth a diverse mix of young people and youth groups to come together, learn new skills and build new friendships. A huge well don’t to London Youth for facilitating such a great event and allowing Rathbone to be a part of it!

Here’s a link to a short film of the event created by the fantastic team at WAC Arts!

Free fruit – blackberry time

Keep an eye out for blackberries ripening, they are delicious and make great pies and jams.  There are wild plants growing all over the place, watch out for thorns if you pick, and give them a wash.  They freeze well.

One of our Rathbone gardeners won 1st prize at Lambeth Country Show. Well done!
