Gardening at Rathbone – February 2016

The gardening group helped out at the Rathbone garden on 11th and 25th  February.  It was really cold on both mornings and we were all wrapped up well.  The sun soon came out and after working hard all morning we were able to sit and enjoy our lunch outside.

Christmas celebrations and Bzz Garage

The Gardening Group went to Kew Gardens to see the Christmas lights in December. They were amazing, some of the trees were singing!

We had our Christmas dinner at Abbevilles Restaurant in Clapham on December 18th. It was a delicious meal and everyone enjoyed themselves.

We have been helping with the Bzz Grage at West Norwood bus station again, weeding and planting more fruit trees and bushes. We usually meet up there on a Sunday morning with the rest of the Open Orchard group. They have donated some fruit trees for the allotment, which we are going to plant in March.

We lost the plot!

Hello everybody!

It’s been a very busy year for the gardening group. We moved from our plot at the top of the hill to one more accessible for our users. We had some new people join the group and everyone worked very hard moving all the plants, pots and furniture down the hill to the new location. Here we are visiting the new plot.

During the winter the group got involved with the West Norwood Bzz Garage, and helped to plant trees, flowers and vegetables to encourage bees.  We also went with the Open Orchard group to plant fruit trees all round the borough. Here we are having a free lunch at the Bzz Garage.
