It’s that time of year again, and rather than the wild, wet and windy conditions of recent years this year at the Lambeth Country Show looks like it’s going to be a scorcher. Purveyors of rustic cider have no doubt doubled their stock in anticipation of record crowds at this much-loved event in Brockwell Park.
Rathbone has two stalls at the show this year. Our main charity stall will be sellling plants and handing out information while Rathbone’s Youth Club make their Country Show debut with a ‘Beat the Goalie’ competition. Both stalls will be found in the charity section of the site.
We’d love to see you there fior a brilliant day out for all the family.
Lawrence Avery, one of our Trustees, completed the London Marathon in a super quick time of 2 hours and 49 minutes. He has also raised £1,193 so far which will be close to £1,500 when Gift Aid has been added.
Well done Lawrence!!
Rathbone’s Second Annual Fun Run took place around Brockwell Park on Saturday May 25th.
The event was again kindly supported by the Mayor of Lambeth, Councillor Mark Bennett, who started the Run and presented medals to all our brave runners and fundraisers. We were very fortunate to enjoy a bright and sunny morning and you can see from the pictures on Rathbone’s Flickr page that everyone had a brilliant time.
Prizes for fastest, slowest and best fancy dress outfit will be presented at our annual Summer BBQ on Friday July 26th.
It is too soon to know how much money everyone was able to raise to help run our social groups, but we will let everyone know as soon as we have a figure.
Huge thanks to everyone who helped make the event another success.
Akwa has been an Office Support Volunteer at Rathbone for nearly a year, and has gained a great deal from the experience. Our office has also gained a great deal from Akwa. Thank you! Read her story on the Volunteer page.
On Thursday Rathbone’s youth members travelled to the Broadway Theatre in Catford to see the Wizard of Oz.
You can read more and see more pictures on our Dance and 13-18 group blogs.
Rathbone’s Outreach Service was inspected by the CQC in January. The inspection went very well and our inspection report can be viewed here.
We are very pleased that the service is FULLY COMPLIANT.

Great fun was had by all. The lovely food provided by Rathbone’s ‘Come Dine With Us’ Group was a big hit with everyone, drinks flowed and the raffle and various quizzes and competitions were popular as ever. Thanks to all the staff who made the event a smooth success yet again, and thanks to everyone who attended for being a big part of Rathbone during 2012.

During October, and after a great deal of hard work, Rathbone finally achieved the PQASSO Level 1 Quality Mark. A quality assurance benchmark widely used and highly regarded within the voluntary sector. Well done to everyone who worked towards this, and great thanks go to Charlotte at LVAC for all her support and patience.
