Meet Our Trustees

Emily Cannon

I’ve been a trustee with Rathbone for nearly three years. My brother, Andrew, has autism and learning disabilities and I joined Rathbone because I wanted to give back to my local community, and contribute the voice of the family to a board of trustees.

In my professional role, I’m a Quality Improvement Coach at the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health, improving the safety of inpatient mental health and learning disability services in England. I really enjoy being a trustee for Rathbone – the hard work and commitment of the team always shines through and it’s interesting to learn how the team strive to improve, whilst also looking at new initiatives for the future.

David Minahan

I have been involved with Rathbone as a trustee since March 2018. I signed up hoping that my professional background, in both social care and technology services, could add value in helping the charity as it seeks to improve the lives of those they support and fulfil its mission purpose in Lambeth.

I am passionate about providing inclusive opportunities for all but particularly those who may have been marginalised in the past. I especially hope that the work Rathbone does can help those with a learning disability or on the autism spectrum lead rich and fulfilling lives.

Rob Ingram

I joined Rathbone in summer 2023 and have really enjoyed being part of such a well-run and efficient organisation. I was recommended by a friend and after meeting Andrew, the CEO, and members of the board I was confident I could be useful in helping the organisation meet its charitable goals and follow its vision and mission. Growing up, my brother received a lot of support from organisations similar to Rathbone so I knew it was an area I wanted to get involved in.

In my professional life I have started and run a number of small businesses and enjoy the strategic and collaborative approach that comes with running SMEs.

Laura Walton

I joined the Board of Trustees in May 2017. Before this, I spent five years on the Outreach Team at Rathbone, initially as a support worker and later as a team leader. This experience gave me a strong understanding of the organisation and the needs of its service users.

Currently, I work as an Executive Assistant in the NHS, supporting a team dedicated to promoting the faster spread and adoption of innovation across the health and care system in South London.

Jillian Kay

Co-Chair

It’s a privilege for me to be involved with Rathbone – as co-chair since 2019 and a trustee since 2018. I live in Herne Hill and wanted to make a contribution to my local community – supporting Rathbone’s work with young people and adults with learning disabilities is a great way to do that. I’m especially proud of the way the whole organisation pulled together through the pandemic, showing creativity and care to keep services going and support service users and each other.

Richard Sheahan

I am delighted to have become a trustee of Rathbone in the middle of 2023, and look forward to supporting the excellent and important work the organisation does. In my day job I try to help – mainly commercial – organisations understand and treat their customers better than they do. This is what I bring to the board – but frankly, many of these organisations could learn something from the way Rathbone treats its beneficiaries. I have been involved as a trustee with several charities over the years, mainly in the arts, in part making music accessible to young people.

Sian Sinclair

I am delighted to have joined the board of Rathbone in 2022. I have lived in south London all my life and have a long-standing commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people in the local community. This has been through a number of voluntary roles, both as a trustee of London-based organisations, such as family support charity Home-Start and the South London Relief in Sickness Fund, and in hands-on roles, running workshops in primary schools for the NSPCC and co-ordinating a Covid befriending service for Age UK Lambeth. I also serve as a magistrate in the South London criminal and family courts.

Will Holmes

I moved into West Norwood in 2023, and wanted to give some of my time and skills to a charity in the area having been a trustee previously in other parts of London. I came across Rathbone and was really inspired by the great work that the organisation does to support so many people in the community, and I am really excited to have joined the Board.

I am a public affairs and stakeholder engagement professional, having worked in a number of charities and public sector organisations in similar roles. I currently work at the Greater London Authority, where I manage relationships with our strategic partners across the city.

Daniel Walsh

I’m deeply committed to championing and supporting underserved groups within my local and national communities. I’ve volunteered with aged and disability care services, climate and environmental initiatives, as well as mental health and well-being programmes. My professional background is in business and financial management, and I currently work in project and programme management, with experience in both the Australian and UK civil services.

After moving from Australia, my desire to continue supporting impactful organisations led me to join Rathbone as a trustee in March 2024. I’m excited to help the organisation sustain its valuable work within the community, bringing my professional knowledge and experience into a role that positively impacts others.
