Sessional Youth Worker

Hours of Work: As agreed, sessional

Person Specification:

To work directly with mainstream young people and those with learning disabilities and Autism in the planning and delivery of a programme that will challenge, stimulate and provide new learning opportunities in line with the project/contract specifications.

Main Duties and Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  1. Work with young people and those with learning disabilities and Autism
  • Ensure that all work undertaken is participative and actively challenges oppression and discrimination.
  • To work as part of a team in the development of youth work within a project, working directly with young people as directed by the project manager or youth service manager.
  • To make and sustain relationships with young people individually and in groups.
  • To work evenings and weekends as negotiated.
  • To ensure maximum access to youth work provision for all young people.
  • To deliver innovative approaches to youth work that enable and encourage young people to participate at all levels.
  1. Staff Team
  • To work as a member of the team, sharing ideas and maintaining regular communication with other team members.
  • To undergo negotiated youth work training.
  • To attend required levels of supervision.
  • To assist in project monitoring and the use of the IYSS programme.
  • To attend and actively contribute to regular project staff meetings.
  1. Administration / Finance
  • To assist in monitoring, planning, reporting and evaluation of youth work sessions/meetings as required.
  • To ensure that all Rathbone financial procedures are adhered to.

 The post-holder must carry out their duties with full regard to Rathbone’s policy and procedures, with specific attention to Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety and Safeguarding Policies.
